After a restful night at Nara Inlet we decided to brave the
strong southerlies and motor down to Cid Harbour as we make way to leave
Whitsundays and head south back to home over the next couple of weeks. We were
a bit busy this day battling the conditions so it seems I did not take any
phots except for the usual Sundowner which on this occasion a Pina Colada.
Dropped anchor and the obligatory large green turtle came to
visit, popping its head out and giving me the once over. I am yet to get a photo of these turtles as
every time I am either on the helm or on the anchor when they come to greet us
and it is always busy when anchoring. I
need a go Pro.
Sens de la vie is a turtle friendly yacht. Perhaps it is the wing keel with the torpedo
bulb that looks like a big turtle that draws them to us every time we enter a
cove?
I rather like to believe it to be a more of a spiritual sign from
my recently departed God Mother Aunty Elaine, who loved Turtles with a passion,
just reminding me to have faith and that I am safe.
We caught up with
some yotties that we have meet along the way Marg, Patrick and Croc with. Sundowners hosted on Sens de la Vie. An enjoyable and peaceful night. The harbour was crowded due to so many of us
boaties big and small seeking refuge from the howling cold southerly and choppy
seas.
The racing calendar of both Airlie and Hamilton over the
next weeks certainly brings together boats from all over the country and from
overseas. I would have liked to enter Sens de la Vie in the Beneteau race as a
veteran yacht but we would have needed
to lighten the our vessels stores and
fuel which we are currently carrying and
had at least 6 crew on board to race.
Maybe next year.
We made plans to brave the elements, get away from the
crowded coves of Whitsundays and head for Thomas Island. We had visited this Island before and it is
isolated and rarely visited. Hopefully
it will give us some protection until the wind dies down and the swell is
calmer.
