Digby Island Communications Mayhem.
When all logic of quantum physics and gravity principles disappears from a
brilliant engineering brain.
Capt. Teza was concerned that we had not been in contact
with Jacque to let her know we were on our way to Mackay and would be there on
Tuesday ready to welcome her on-board on Wednesday.
Teza decided to his send his mobile phone up in a small bag
attached to a halyard rope.
Simple enough.
Too many Sundowners and a week off work solving complicated
construction issues has resulted in in eroding his judgement in applying sound
physics to the task at hand.
Well Mr “I have a brilliant idea, “seem like a good idea at
the time”, Teza, forgot to weight the bag and did not attach another halyard to
pull his phone back to the deck.
Teza achieved his goal for communciation with the phone
happily bleeping alerts of incoming messages at the top of the mast swaying
around in its little bag. Mission
accomplished. Consequences of retrieving said phone not well planned and
thought out.
When we both stopped laughing, Mr Brilliant Idea, engineer extraordinaire,
calls “get out the bosun chair and haul me up”,
“Dear” says I, “ the
halyard rope you have used to send your phone up the mast is the bosuns chair
rope” There are no other strong enough
ropes unless you want to undo all the sail sheets.
Only to return top deck to find Terry duck taping together
our deck broom, fishing gaff and rope hook pole. Sadly the law of physics
resulted in an arced pole some 2 meters short of the target.
I love this man. I would not have all the adventures, fun and mayhem in my life without him and he is SO
ENTERTAINING!!
I await for the next brilliant idea to emerge. A master of solving complex engineering
problems I am sure he will resolve getting his phone back to deck, sometime in
the future.
We went to bed with a phone happily hanging overhead with
the occasional bleep and bell tone and wondering “who’s calling?”.
Tomorrow is another day. to be continued................................................
And then it progressed to being tangled up in our stays |
